Good News, Bad News

We’ll start with the bad news, first. Our resident Clydesdale, Joe Leineweber, had an accident while rock climbing out at Mt. Hood with The Ace this Saturday, and fell roughly 20 feet, getting a tib/fib break and some ligament damage around the ankle on his right leg. Doctors performed surgery late afternoon on the same day and report a plate and some screws are in place and they didn’t have to do as much fixing up as they first anticipated. So, the poor dude is clearly out for CX, and he’s bummed as you might imagine, but the doctors are confident with their work and now the healing begins. So if you’re in the market for some really rad drugs, you might be able to trade some DVD’s or something for them. Maybe bring a casserole or some shit, I don’t know. Heal up Joe!

paramedics think it’s hilarious to de-pants victims in the wilderness. Here, Joe is helpless to fight back

Chewie has apparently failed to fix the hyperdrive

In good news, there’s still racing to be had on the weeknights if you desire, as Bridgetown Velo is hosting the September Cat-n-Mouse races at PIR on Tuesdays. Check the OBRA site for more details.

And the Eugene Celebration is underway now….if you’re bored roll down and pick a stage out. We’ll be here in Portland taking care of our fallen comrade.

So Long, PIR, And Thanks For All The Soakings

Just like it started many months ago, PIR left us for 2010 as it found us – wet and cold. And the race ended with good results and then retiring to HQ for beer and laughs. It was a bit of an off kilter farewell, seeing as we were out to defend our 1st place in the month series and move up our 4th place rider to 2nd, those being Carver and Penner. The problem was we showed up in force, and the rain kept most people away so we had the numerical advantage and how. Seeing this opportunity we started attacking immediately and snapped off Robbie and Dave at lap 3 with 2 others. They were joined by Penner a lap later and the quintet stayed away for the race, with Penner winning a sweet Corsa Concept wheelset and the race, with Robbie and Dave not contesting  2nd and 3rd place to their break mates.

who in the hell ordered rain?

Harwood duked it out alone on his own in the 1/2/3 and reports that it was the usual rapid fire attack pattern. I think the old boy is tired.

Afterward we retired for beer and lightsabers. Lana cut everyone to pieces, because Lana has the force.

Harwood and Conley enjoy their last moments on earth

Many thanks to OBRA for all their hard work this year in keeping the best weekly series of the summer running smoothly, and a special thanks to all the teams and riders who kicked our ass all year long.
