This is the official home page of the Ironclad Performance Wear Cycling Team.

Bones! Will He Make It?

So a little while back, we had ourselves a little hootenanny to say farewell to our dear Kevin Hedahl, on his way with fellow Ironclad rider (oh yeah, and wife) Tricia on their new Californian adventure.

So since Tricia had already split town to start nesting, Kevin and the lads were free to set about an agenda and activities that, well….dudes are wont to do from time to time. Something sort of like this:

skeleton-party

the air is a little thin in here…..

So as said agendas and activities befell us, we pressed on after a wonderful fire and a genocide of neighborhood Pabst (mostly Dave’s responsibility), to find a few venues to hang out for a nightcap.

So after more warfare on beer, a short bike ride home became troublesome after a short tumble. Um, yeah.

kevin-clavicle

aw, shit.

So after a few hours in the E.R. and a fancy sling with some Percocet, we weary lads set about a handful of hours of sleep. Upon the morn, a large breakfast was in order, so off we went to Hungry Tiger Too. Kevin, too wrecked and sore to consider it, watched Dave eat a solid midwestern style breakfast, complete with the proper Saturday morning hydration.

Poor Kev can’t stand the sight of it….

But the move and whatnot is on, and we wish the Hedahls, part of the core of the founding formations of the Ironclad team in 2007, the absolute very best.

Thanks, Hedahls.

The Flight Will Be About 8 Weeks Long, and We Expect Some Bumps Along The Way

The arrows are aloft, the crusade has begun. We’re wheels up and gaining altitude, and the first Cross Crusade race – as always held at Alpenrose – didn’t disappoint, delivering great weather, large numbers, and big smiles.

Something in line with the population of China lined up for each and every field around the old dairy, and each bunch had segments running the gamut of interest – the super serious, the curious first timers, the in-it-for-the-fun types, and the cross-only sorts. Seems this race brings out all the new jerseys or teams formed just for the crusade. Either way, it was good times all the way around.

For us, we put up some great results for a small team. Of course, folks may have been blinded by our Hi Viz orange suits. Just a reminder – they’re SUPPOSED to be ugly, that was the point.

ugly all day, every day.

With so many teams employing so much black, some new, some existing, and especially for the Crusades, we thought it would fun to turn it on its ear. Less sponsor logos, just one basic (and hideous) color. Of course our ladyfolk do them thar suits a lot more justice than us plum smugglers. Some of the menfolk look pretty funny in these get ups, and we’re laughing with you laughing at us. Ain’t too proud…..

you won’t miss us

For the standings on the day, our two rookie women’s riders – Alana Armstrong and Stephanie Croy – slotted nicely into 10th and 4th respectively out of over 9o women! Nice work, ladies, and welcome aboard.

Men’s rookie Mark Koller double dipped riding the C’s and the single speed as well, finishing strong in both.

In the Women’s B’s we had Anna Clark putting up the result of the day for the squad with a fine 5th place, with Lana Pressey, Erin Willig, and Marylynn King all helping out. Anna also raced the single speed race earlier in her mud boots on flat pedals, so double congrats to her for pure awesomeness.

In the Men’s B we had Trevor Spahr taking 2nd in a huge field of over 100. Nice work man…I hear a hammer falling soon on you, young lad. Sanders, Sestrich, Voytilla, and Willis all were in the scrum as well.

For Single Speed it was Dave, Gerow, Boeger, and Clark duking it out, with Gerow best placed in the low 40′s. Again, over 100 in the race.

MK47 powers up the run-up in our traditional Black kit

In the C’s early in the day we Barker. In the Clydes we had Joe. In the Master B race we had Dezellum and Harwood – and all these dudes had solid rides.

We had a nice corner picked out near the forest-y part of the course, and it was fun to hang out with our brothers and sisters in Cthulu and Beer and Grundel. Always good times. We didn’t score any 1st place finishes, but no DFL’s either.

Lana’s pure excellence gets the team some press(ey)

And so it has begun…..

Check out a shit load of photos here.

We’re scrubbing the shit orange out of our eyes.

It’s As Easy As 1, 2, 3…

Lana Pressey scored a fine win in the women’s B’s today at Heiser Farms, while David Monnig and Trevor Spahr took 2nd and 3rd in the Men’s B’s! Well done folks! We lifted a picture of Holstein’s page, and you can see some more pics of the day here.

He managed to nab one of Lana doing the deed….

that’s determination

Especially after last night’s going away ceremony for Kevin, which ended in two Ironclad riders in the emergency room at about 3 am, after some time at the girly bar. That means it was a really good night.

And tomorrow, the swords are drawn, and shields are down.

Are We Officially Going Steady Yet?

I mean, come on. It’s been two dates. We paid good money for this. You barely let us up your shirt last time, and we even bought dinner and paid for your movie! Give it up already!

Well, perhaps a button or two might be coming off, and soon the fireworks go off. At Blind Date #2 Anna Clark pulled out the best result for the team taking 2nd in the Women’s B field, while Trevor Sphar rocked another fine finish with 4th in the Men’s B. Joe Leineweber had his best result ever in the C’s taking 35th out of over 125 riders – nice work. Der German and Willis also got on their whips, but both had mechanicals to take them out of the race.

Last night’s wolfpack was also successful, in the sole fact that nobody died despite our best efforts to the contrary.

See you at Heiser on Saturday and Alpenrose on Sunday!
