This article struck my curiosity about this "unknown from out of town" who won the race by a good margin. I thought it was peculiar that the announcer seemed very familiar with him, but he is "unknown from out of town." I found out that his name is Joe Dengel, and coincidentally enough he is from Portland, but currently is a full time student at Oregon State University.
