This is difficult to type….
Tonight, OBRA showed herĀ true class in allowing our team to take 2 parade laps in honor of our fallen teammate, one day after her horrific accident left her with a brain injury in the ICU. Thank you, Tuesday night racers, it meant the world to us. And we’re sure it meant the world to Kmac too, (whose name half of us wore scrawled on our forearms in Sharpie), laying in a hospital room at Legacy Emanuel, quietly beginning recovery.
The racing was the racing, and that’s its own animal, but the bigger story is that of a team coming together to honor one of its own, as well as the support of the OBRA community on so many levels. We are so thankful for everyone’s outpouring of support, we can’t quite put it into words. From Yakima’s hoody, to Portland Velo’s gift certificates, to Hammer Velo’s PT support, to Veloforma’s bike, to anyone who dropped off a buck, left a comment, took a photo, or said a kind word at PIR tonight, to whomever you are – thank you.
While we wish Kmac a speedy recovery, our thoughts are also with another fallen brother, Bruce, from Portland Velo, who is at press time hanging in there after a freak accident left him badly broken in numerous places. Get well, brother.
Please, folks, all of us……stay safe. Extra eyes, everyone………

a rare and thoughtful gift from the group…..one word describes the racers of OBRA: CLASSY
Nothing but class.
Get well soon Kmac, heal well Irodclad.
Was a privilege to be riding with you guys and the 3/4 field last night.
I rode with Kristin last Friday at Fast Twitch.. she was one of the only riders that came up to me after the race to see how I was doing after my crash and to give me some well-deserved advice. I was so shocked to hear she had crashed and now am beginning to realize how lucky I am for only having road rash. She is an incredible rider and although I don’t know her personally, I’m sure she’ll pull through this and be stronger than before. Get well soon!!
