Chainbreaker, Icebreaker….all we need is the Circuit Breaker race and I think we got them all, save for breaker breaker what’s your 20.
Brian Gerow held 4th almost the whole race until a glorious stacking up of the bicycle goods relegated him to chasing back on for 8th on a great course in Bend.

Nice work on the top ten Brian!
Good day today for the team, in the sense that no one got hurt, though we’re still waiting the result of the Cat 3 race at our mobile HQ.
In the 4/5 race it was Dave alone, with a few pals to help out with and for if the situation came good. On the fun side, it was a peculiarity to see the two largest teams in the race constantly chasing down their own guys. Maybe there were inner team spats? On the scary side was a last lap, last corner crashed that basically had been brewing for 10 laps. Now, we don’t normally say anything about crashes other than get well in this public forum, but to those dudes who caused that wreck with asinine handling and tactics – you deserved that. To the other collateral damages, that was bad luck and you just got caught up in it – but you guys who cut the nose off the group left-to-right after handling that corner like a couple of drunks – you deserved to crash. Glad you were all ok, but when you look at your rash tomorrow say “I did that to myself.”
For the W4, a lone Kmac took on a smallish group. After just getting pipped for the 1st prime, she settled in for the dash to the line, just barely missing a podium spot coming in 4th, but it was wheels across, so being right there is a good sign for Kmac in her 1st full year of road racing!
In the Masters 35+ it was a big break that sadly Dave, Dizzy, and Crawfy missed and we were resigned to our bunch sprint fate. Always fun with the masters, as the lines are smooth and you can pedal through the corners with ease.
The cat 3 race featured Voytilla, Dizzy, and Crawfy, with Crawfy bringing in (we think) a top ten in the scramble to the line. Dizzy and Voytilla with the assist.
You can see some fairly bad pictures of the race here. Otherwise, congrats to the winners on the day!
Thanks to Sal and Mike for a great event! That course was awesome, and the weather was just splendid. And, there were lots of geese, all looking for fights, like this chap:

you lookin’ at me?
Check some photos out .
A good day at the track for all whichalso saw two podiums by the black and yellow. McCarthy 3rd in the W4, and Spahr second in the M4, with Drew Meisel and Beth Chase contributing to that action. Huzzah! Glorious sun and big crowds made the Memorial race a special one. Congrats to the winners.

Big crowds, big fields, big sun……what could be better?
This just in: Tom Boonen really likes cocaine.

Blizzang!

Blizarro!

Drew M. putting the hurt on
Nice work, Travis! Er,….Trevor,…er,….Bickle! Nevermind.
Trevor “The Kid” Spahr laid down a time of 1:21:35 to round out the podium for Cat 4 men slotting into 3rd place. Pics and more hopefully soon!
Johannes Weber has the dubious distinction as being the first team rider to earn a victory in 2009! Congrats Johannes! In a hard fought solo effort in the 4/5 race, Weber outkicked a bunch sprint to earn a win by a wheel this Tuesday.
Sadly, we have no pictures of the event as it happened….but we’re all slapping Johannes on the back for this achievement in his first year of bike racing! UPDATE: The ever present Pat Malach caught the winning moment on film, and here it is. And lo, we’ve managed to find one from last night too. Here’s a snarling Johannes who awoke this morning to find himself a newly minted Cat 4. Welcome to the not-so-big leagues kid!

don’t feed him, he’ll follow you home….
For the rest of us it was 3/4 action. Barker, Spahr, Dave, Crawfy, Q, Ryan, Anna, Hudson, Colonel, Willis, Gerow, and Dizzy all took to it. Despite good numbers and actuating the race by featuring solely in the 1st break of the night, and being half of the second of the night, the bunch sprint to the line was side-to-side and full of the usual shucking and jiving. When all was said and done we had 4 in the top 15, with Smith, Crawford, Spahr and Dezellum. The rest of the lads and the lady rode their guts out. A great night at PIR!
Yet another sad crash at the end of the night took out a pair of guys who had done a ton of work that night. A little bad luck saw the pair laid out and taking some time to get to their feet. We wish those two lads very speedy recoveries and we’re glad they were both up and around after the dust settled.
Afterwards it was some good ol’ Cinco de Mayo celebrating, and nothing says that like cheap Mexican beer, chicken wings and a drunken Colonel. Or something like that. The Captain decided to get the Colonel a little wasty to celebrate his time in the evening’s breakaway. Evidence? No, your honor, there is none. Well, except this:

The rest of the week sees the team featuring at Alpenrose for some track action, at the Chain Breaker for some dirt action, and at the Ice Breaker for some crit action. Step lively, now.
Tonight’s PIR just didn’t make any sense. None. Intense amounts of rain and wind made for a light showing on the participation front, but we Ironclad sent 5 hearty souls into the mix anyway.
The weather and turnout being what it was, the promoters rightfully decided to race the group as a whole, and fun times were had by all. The 1’s quickly decided they’d like to take their leave of the rest, and dutifully pushed their way through the sky piss until 2 of them got away for good. The rest of the hackers hung on and fought through rain, then super hard rain, then a curious bit of sunshine, and all the while some healthy winds. We were the only team with more than 2 there, bringing Barker, Crawfy, Kira, Deann, and Dave all in the Master’s 4/5 field. Hell, we wouldn’t want poor Jim Anderson to be alone all night in that horrible weather.
ENTIRELY INCORRECT BLATHERING EDITED OUT
Results now re-re-reposted and we got 3rd, two 2nds and all top tens with such small fields. Nothing makes much sense any more. Looking out the window, we hope Tuesday’s race isn’t the same weather, but being here trackside, we can tell you the wind is whipping and the rain comes down in sheets every 15 minutes.
Special Mention to Beth Chase, who showed up to cheer on her mates even though her slight frame was shaking with cold….thanks Beth!
Hats off to everyone out there tonight. That was all nuts, all the time. And keep the hats off a little longer for our Deann, who did her first ever PIR tonight in that sloppy mess! Nicely done!

L-R: Kira, Dave, Deann, Crawfy – missing: Barker All the aforementioned: sky piss warriors
Details a bit fuzzy (mostly due to the day before being a vodka soaked b-day type occassion) but initial reports have Lana Pressey taking 4th in the state mtb championship race in Blodgett, Oregon. Nice work Lana!
Pics and more hopefully forthcoming…..
Gerow attended the event as well and decided – for no good reason – to do an extra 24 mile lap. Oops. Good training!
Flirting amongst the folds of spotty warm sunshine and cold blankets of rain, Spring allows us to start anew as well, with new locales, and meaty pork ribs. Mmmm, ribs.
Senor Voytilla graciously bestowed upon Dave’s new domicile a fabulous gas grill, and much grilling has since ensued and continues forthright.

Ribs. Ribs. Mmm. Ribs. Warp Factor Eight, Mr Sulu.
And oddly enough, prior to the above photo being taken, we had consulted with a high ranking official as to whether or not the move would go smoothly. The answer was affirmative.

Yes.
And tomorrow begins “Geezers and Chicks” at PIR. Can’t wait!Even though tomorrow looks to be rain, then steady rain, then steadier rain.
So think about giving in a few weeks:

Please come.
A lone claddie laced ‘em up and took on Hood River #4 under sunny skies and surprisingly fairly light winds for the area. And the wind was coming from the opposite direction than normal which was quite odd.
Ol’ man Dave took to the 4/5 and the 3/4 race, taking 4th and 9th respectively in the night time affair. Totally blew the 4/5 race with some poor timing, and mostly sat in the 3/4 and let the hordes of Mt View guys and Spec/River City guys throw haymakers at each other. Outnumbered, the lanky lad had no choice but to sit in and play the position game.
Another great series of fun races in Hood River is done for the year! Thanks to the promoters and organizers and officials for making it all happen. As an aside: Full Sail Amber is tasty shit!

Enjoying the ride
