Icebreaker Breaks Some Stuff

Good day today for the team, in the sense that no one got hurt, though we’re still waiting the result of the Cat 3 race at our mobile HQ.

In the 4/5 race it was Dave alone, with a few pals to help out with and for if the situation came good. On the fun side, it was a peculiarity to see the two largest teams in the race constantly chasing down their own guys. Maybe  there were inner team spats? On the scary side was a last lap, last corner crashed that basically had been brewing for 10 laps. Now, we don’t normally say anything about crashes other than get well in this public forum, but to those dudes who caused that wreck with asinine handling and tactics – you deserved that. To the other collateral damages, that was bad luck and you just got caught up in it – but you guys who cut the nose off the group left-to-right after handling that corner like a couple of drunks – you deserved to crash. Glad you were all ok, but when you look at your rash tomorrow say “I did that to myself.”

For the W4, a lone Kmac took on a smallish group. After just getting pipped for the 1st prime, she settled in for the dash to the line, just barely missing a podium spot coming in 4th, but it was wheels across, so being right there is a good sign for Kmac in her 1st full year of road racing!

In the Masters 35+ it was a big break that sadly Dave, Dizzy, and Crawfy missed and we were resigned to our bunch sprint fate. Always fun with the masters, as the lines are smooth and you can pedal through the corners with ease.

The cat 3 race featured Voytilla, Dizzy, and Crawfy, with Crawfy bringing in (we think) a top ten in the scramble to the line. Dizzy and Voytilla with the assist.

You can see some fairly bad pictures of the race here. Otherwise, congrats to the winners on the day!

Thanks to Sal and Mike for a great event! That course was awesome, and the weather was just splendid. And, there were lots of geese, all  looking for fights, like this chap:
