Hooray for good weather in which to lay down another solid block of hours of base miles, after a weekend packed with OBRA goodness.
Firstly, the VeloSwap Jim Anderson held on Saturday was a success. Lots of Portland’s bike culture played imitate-the-sardine-can and many an item and dollar dollar bill changed hands, yo.
The OBRA banquet on Saturday night was also a big success. The OBRA folks really outdid themselves and the whole shindig was amazing. Great chow, great stage and lights combo, great videos and company. The “Voice of OBRA”, the almighty Splinter, handled the MC duties splendidly and thanks for it. Ironclad took home a few honors, with Stephanie Chase winning the overall BAR for Category 3 women in fine fashion, and far less spectacular but perhaps equally as painful to earn, Dave won the “Off the Back” award for his epic and perfectly executed stage race FAIL at Elkhorn.
Sunday found the Ironclad team gathering under cloudy skies and moderate temps to slog in another set of hours. Lost on the island were we, many times around under the watchful eye of many a pickup piloting redneck. Good weather and favorable winds allowed quite a bit of chit chat, and one hot lap provided a good ass kicking. Like everyone else we’re laying down piles o’ miles in preparation for the upcoming season. We’d imagine most of us will start surfacing around Banana Belt so most are right on track.
On a completely unrelated note, we’d like to note the supremacy of bacon. It simply rules.

miles, hours, miles, hours, miles, hours….
About 20 some odd folks came out for the ride, with a few special guests on hand to enjoy the sights and sounds of The Island. Of course, the Cracker Barrel market is always good for a mid-ride hot pocket or two, before setting out once again. It is also good for “guess what she’s trying to say” and buying post ride cheap beer and salty treats as well. We say yea to the post ride coca cola and other treats, however we condemn the tacquitos and the chicken wings. Those two are not of this earth and something is very, very wrong with both of them.
We bagged no geese this day. Shot no grouse. Arrowed no boar. Just rode our damn bikes all the live long day.
Good action.
Wait, are those some Descente gloves, front and center?
Oh, my!
